Asked often

Before the first cut

The questions that arrive at the bench every week, answered once.

Are the prices on this site the final ones?

They are copies of the live listing prices at the moment we last rebuilt the pages, and listings move without notice. The number at the top of the listing you buy from is the one that counts.

What steel are the knives?

Stainless across the rack. 11 of 19 listings name German steel and 7 call it high-carbon; where a listing says it, our page repeats it, and where it does not, we do not invent it.

Can the sets go in the dishwasher?

18 of 19 listings are marked dishwasher safe. We hand-wash ours anyway; the machine is harder on an edge than a year of cutting boards. The washing note in our bench notes has the full argument.

Do the piece counts include the block?

Yes. The count on a listing is everything in the box: knives, shears, sharpener when there is one, and the block itself. A 30-piece kit is a full kitchen, not 30 blades.

Why do the three steak sets share one rating?

Because they are one listing in three handle colours, and the ratings pool belongs to the listing. We say so on each of those pages rather than let the number look tripled.

Who do I talk to about an order?

Our retail partner, from the order history page where the purchase lives. We answer for the knives and these pages; they answer for checkout, delivery and returns.
